DWG to PDF

This flow is to convert an AutoCAD drawing to a georeferenced PDF that can be imported into Avenza Maps (mobile app).  Scroll to the bottom for additional details.

Open up Global Mapper.  Open Data Files, navigate to the DWG and open it. Or Drag & Drop the file into the software.

Right click on the DWG in the Control Center -> Layer -> Export

  • The labels are automatically set to a visibility range.  There will be another workflow outlining how to change the visibility range of labels imported from CAD.  Sounds like a plan, see GM-06...
  • The PDF includes georeferencing information and will import into Avenza Maps based on the projection.  There must be some other programs out there that use georeferenced PDFs.
