GM06 DWG to PDF with visible Text
This lesson builds on GM 04 that runs through the import of a DWG and the Export of a PDF.
Open the CAD file however you feel comfortable. I like the lazy drag and drop method.
As always, check your projection.
Bam, it is in... but we cannot see the labels.
Zooming in, we can see the labels.
Now we want to be able to select the Text only, so split that onto it's own layer. Right click the layer in the Control Center and find the SPLIT.
Split is by the feature type.
Now all the text is in one sub layer and all the lines are in another.
Right click on the text and select all the features (text) on the Text Layer.
On the screen, right click and EDIT.
Click on the FONT and choose your font and desired size.
I like to CLEAR the selection when I am done.
I found better success using the File -> Export -> Export PDF File
Choose your size. You can always run a custom size for a very large area.
Select your limits.
I like to draw the box.
Now those labels don't look right in the software, but check out the PDF below...
- Legibility may be a concern as the text is over a bunch of other stuff. There is a background fill mode in the FONT that I did not play with. (Think TEXTMASK).
- I had issues with some massive custom PDF sizes.
- Not sure if two PDFs can be merged into one... that'd be a good one for another day.
Questions? Comments? Don't hold back, but don't be brutal...
