There are several maps provided on this website. None of the data is being certified to correctness in location or content. Rely on it the right amount and remember what GIS really stands for: Get It Surveyed.

The data is from multiple sources including:
- Mapbox
- FEMA NFIP Floodmap Portal
- “Bureau of Geographic Information (MassGIS), Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Executive Office of Technology and Security Services". MassGIS Overview
- The Cape Cod Commission Cape Cod Commission Datahub
- East-SouthEast, LLC - ESE-LLC

If you choose to use the maps, please credit the above sources. Purporting the accuracy of the maps is done at the users’ risk and responsibility.

Using the maps:

Panning - Hold down the left click and move the mouse.

Zooming - Scroll up to zoom in, scroll down to zoom out. Some maps include buttons to zoom in and zoom out.

Tilt & Rotate - Hold down the right click and move the mouse. Some maps include a North button to restore the rotation.

Search - The search bar is provided by Mapbox. It seems to work well with addresses and is not limited in area. Searches usually require street address, state and country.

Layers - The layers toggle by buttons on the left side of the map. There are no legends and most of the layers click. It works best to turn on few layers as the popup description bubbles can overlap.

Satellite - This raster is provided by Mapbox without date of acquisition.

Contours - This vector is provided by Mapbox. This best interval is to 3 meter or so.

Parcels - This layer is the combination of all of the parcels from MassGIS over the Cape and the Islands. When clicked the popup will include a link to page. Only some of these pages have been created; the others return a 404 error. Most of the ESE Parcel Pages are blank.

Floodplain - This layer came from FEMA. It is based on one of the revisions from after the 2014 update. Please refer to the FEMA NFIP for the most recent version. This layer only extends over the Cape.

DEP Wetland & DEP Wetland Lines - These layers are from MassGIS and represent many of the wetlands. This is not an absolute layer as there are many wetlands that are not included.

NHESP Estimated Habitat, Priority Habitat and Vernal Pools - These layers are from MassGIS. Please refer to the NHESP atlas for the most up to date mapping. UPDATED 2021

Zone II - This layer is from MassGIS and depicts the mapped Zone II areas. Please refer to the DEP, the Local Board of Health or the Local Water Department for the most recent maps.

Soils - This layer is from MassGIS and is limited to the Cape. It is the digitized version of the Soil Survey prepared by Peter Fletcher.

Zoning - This layer was obtained from the Cape Cod Commission then was updated by an intern in the summer of 2021. Please refer to the local Planning Department, Zoning Department or Town Clerk for the most up to date version of the Local Zoning Maps.

1858 - The Walling Map was georeferenced by ESE-LLC and is being used for a portal to various Towns. We are unsure of the datum that was used in 1858 and the map does not match the more recently used WGS 84.

Conservancy Districts - This Chatham Layer was prepared by ESE-LLC. It includes the record wetland information based on the Protective Bylaw and associated Conservancy District Book.

Conservation - This Chatham Layer was prepared by the Chatham Conservation Foundation and is being updated by ESE-LLC to better define the Foundation properties.

Town Parcels - This Chatham Layer was prepared by ESE-LLC from the MassGIS Data. It requires significant work but does help to depict many of the Town Owned properties.

Sewer - This Chatham Layer was prepared by ESE-LLC from the MassGIS Data. It depicts the properties along the sewer that have tie cards uploaded to the ESE-LLC Parcel Pages. There are some properties not depicted here that have sewer available.

Stories - This Chatham Layer was prepared by ESE-LLC from the MassGIS Data. It depicts the number of stories on each property based on the Assessing Data.

Owner Location - This Chatham Layer was prepared by ESE-LLC from the MassGIS Data. It depicts the mailing address associated with each property.

Intersection - This Chatham Layer was created by ESE-LLC to provide aerial shots of the major intersections for use by the police department for accident reports. The layer is under construction.

Other - There are other layers being added to maps as needed. It is a fun adventure. If you have an idea for a GIS mapping effort send it to thadd@ese-llc.com.
